Expositie Frederiksoord

Yesterday evening I made the 'fabric' you see above on my embellisher (punch machine). I made it for the mandala of The Dutch Bag Ladies. Now I have to think about how to use it.

Expositie Frederiksoord

And afterwards I went with my children to the labyrinth. They were so good and even liked it to come along. And best of all: we were in time for the swimming lessons of our oldest. We had exactly five minutes to get him undressed and into his swimming wear :-).

Today I went with our two children to the exposition of 3x1 in museum Koloniehof in Frederiksoord. 3x1 stands for the three ladies who work together: Laura Liebenberg (Trapsuutjies), Annette Jeukens en Jacqueline de Jong. It was wonderful to see their work and to talk to them. They make such beautiful textile art work.

I also met Emmy, Willy, Ina and... O o, I can't remember all the names... But what I do know is that they were nice. I think I am a lucky lady to join them in the Dutch Bag Ladies Group.

Of course I had to go to the shop and buy some things. I bought some fabric, thread and angelina. I have never used angelina so I want to try it out.

For the Dutch Bag Ladies we are going to make a quilt inspired by a mandala. This is my first step. I admit, it is not much, but it is a start. Don't know what has to become of it, but I like the colours. I also found some matching beads, but did not photographed them. Last month I won a box, bright pink, at a fancy fair. It matches with what I collected for the mandala I am going to make. So I will store the fabric and things in there.

I planted a new tree in the Netherlands

Haar droom? Een bos :-).

Let me introduce you to a strong tree that I just planted in the Netherlands. She is strong and flexible, in touch with mother earth. Is she singing? Or is she sad? She tells her own story while the wind plays with her leaves. For now she is a lonely tree, but I heard that she won't be alone for long. She spreads her branches to welcome others to join her. Her dream? A forest :-).

This is the first time I used little pieces of fabric that I just cut and sew. It was a feast. I loved making the leaves and branches. It was also the first time I used oil paintsticks to draw the picture on fabric. It was exciting to do, I think I will use these paintsticks again.

And for you all, who read this blog: another detail photo. I hope you like this little quilt as well as I do.

Een nieuwe baan - a new job

I've got great news. I have got a new job. New people, an other environment. Now I am working as a communications manager for an organization that stands for a better environment, less pollution and energy of green sources. The one I am going to work for, also as a communication manager, helps people who are stuck in live (social work). I like it to help to make the world a better place.
It is hard to say goodbye to my colleagues with who I worked for five years. And it is hard to end the things I am working on, but I am so excited about my new job. I will start on the first of September. The coming months I will finish what I am working on and get used to the idea of my new job. Now I work 32 hours a week and the next is for 20 hours a week. So there must also be more time to spend with my family and to create!
