Afwezigheid

Door persoonlijke omstandigheden ben ik niet zo actief. Hopelijk komt mijn creativiteit over een paar maanden weer terug. Eerst moet ik de weg naar beneden nog afleggen, voordat ik de berg weer op kan klimmen....

Due to some personal matters I am not so active. Hopefully I will regain my creativity in some months. First I will have to go down the hill before I can climb up again...

Stad: Utrecht

Wat ik mij niet realiseerde, is dat ik mijn quilt die in Veldhoven hing hier nog niet heb laten zien. Hier is ie dan. Het is de quilt die is gemaakt voor het thema Stad. Het is de stad Utrecht. In de rand heb ik de plattegrond van Utrecht gestikt. Het beeld is in de basis geschilderd op de stof met Markal Paintsticks en de figuren heb ik met stukjes stof samengesteld.


I did not realize, that I did not show my quilt that was part of the OEQC in Veldhoven on my blog. Here it is. The theme is city, the city is Utrecht. I quilted the cityplan of Utrecht in the border with free machine embroidery. I painted the fabric with Markal Paintsticks. For the figures I fused fabric to the base fabric and painted the little pieces a bit, to bring them alive.

YeS!!

Today I got the news that one of my art quilts (Utrecht - city) has been accepted for the Open European Quilt Championships!!!! I am so excited....

Zin!

Mijn eerste quiltje voor ARTfor12. Tekst heeft voor mij te maken met zinnen. Het woord Zin is daar een afgeleide van. Zin heeft nog een betekenis, in de zin van 'zin hebben in'. En ja, ik heb wel zin in het maken van quiltjes voor deze groep. Ook vind ik 'zin' een vrolijk woord en daarom heb ik geprobeerd om een vrolijke, levendige quilt te maken, waarop het woord zin wordt weergegeven in combinatie met een vrouwelijk figuur die in mijn ogen 'zin hebben in' uitstraalt.

This is my first quilt for the art quilt group ARTfor12. The theme is 'Tekst' (text). In the Dutch language there is a word that has several meanings:

zin de ~
purpose (the ~), use (ww.), intention (the ~), meaning (bijv.nw. / bijw.), drift (ww.), value (ww.), merit (the ~), worth (bijv.nw. / bijw.), significance (the ~), interest (ww.), fervour (the ~), fascination (the ~), term (ww.), statement (the ~), phrase (ww.), expression (the ~), saying (the ~), turn of phrase (the ~), appetite (the ~), hunger (ww.), feel like a bite (the ~), lewdness (the ~), the hots (the ~), randiness (the ~), horniness (the ~)

I think 'zin' is a happy word. It is often used as 'feel like...'. And that in combination with the meaning 'phrase' has been captured in this quilt.

Getting inspired

Hoe krijg je inspiratie? Ik heb ontdekt dat meedoen aan een art quilt groep heel inspirerend kan zijn. Ik werk op het moment aan een quilt voor de groep Artfor12. Het thema is 'tekst'. Ik heb veel plezier in het uitwerken van dit thema.

How to get inspired? Well, I found that joining an art quilt group can be very inspiring. I am working on a quilt for the group Artfor12. The theme is 'Tekst' (text). I am having a great time.
