En wat nu? - What to do next?

Dit is een boom in de mist. Ik heb deze gemaakt als een proefje en heb me niet gerealiseerd dat de achtergrond stof een beetje te smal was. En nu het zo ver is, weet ik niet hoe ik er mee verder moet. Ik vind het te mooi om er niets mee te doen. Heeft iemand een idee wat ik er nu mee zou kunnen doen? Aan de linker en rechterzijde is bijna geen stof om mee verder te werken...

This is a tree in the fog. And I made it as a try-out. I did not realize that the background fabric was a bit too small. So now I don't know what to do with it next. I like this tree very much though.. Does anyone have an idea? How do I work with it, when there is almost no fabric left at the right and left side?

Boekomslag - book cover

Dit boekomslag is gemaakt met de viltmachine en is daarna gequilt op de naaimachine (vrij machine quilten). De wol heb ik geverf met procion MX (groen en fuchsia). Bianca, een vriendin, wist de wol voor mij te bemachtigen bij een schapenboer. Bedankt Bianca!

This book cover is made with the embellisher and has been quilted with my sewing machine (free motion). The wool (green and fuchsia) is dyed with procion MX dye. Bianca, a friend of mine, got the wool for me at a farmer. Thank you so much Bianca.

Nieuwe ATC's - new ATC's

Hier is een aantal ATC's die ik heb gemaakt. Ik heb twee dames een ATC beloofd, dus heb ik een aantal gemaakt zodat er iets te kiezen valt.

Here are some ATC's I made. I promised two ladies to send them one, so I started making some, to have a small collection to choose from.

Stellar quilt in wording - Stellar quilt in progress

Mijn Canon 350D is stuk. De spiegel werkt niet meer. En om deze reden heeft het even geduurd voordat ik hier weer iets postte. Maar vandaag kon ik de camera van mijn man gebruiken. De camera die hij in zijn werk gebruikt en die om die reden ook niet altijd beschikbaar is.
Ik heb een foto gemaakt van de stof en de eerste sterren voor de Stellar quilt. Dit is de quilt die ik maak voor Around the world in 20 quilts. Het is erg leuk om er aan te werken, zeker nu ik een idee heb voor het ontwerp. Wat je hier ziet is slechts een detail, want het mooiste wil ik tot het laatst bewaren.

Pim als je dit leest: hier zie je een stuk geverfd laken. Ik zal er een Drents tintje aan geven ;-).

My Canon 350D is broke. The mirror isn't working anymore. And therefor it has taken some time for me to post. But today I could use the camera of my husband, the one he uses for his business and therefor is also the one that is not always available. I made a photo of the fabric and the first stars on it for the Stellar quilt. It's the quilt I am making for Around The World in 20 quilts. I love working on it, because now I have an idea for the design. What you see here is only a detail, because I want to keep the best part for last.

Dutch Bag Ladies

Vandaag hadden we van de Dutch Bag Ladies een show en tell bijeenkomst bij Willy thuis. Het was de eerste keer dat ik alle leden zag, behalve dan Ina, want zij was ziek en kon daardoor niet komen. Ina, ik hoop dat je snel weer opknapt.

Het was leuk om iedereen te zien en om de prachtige quilts in het echt te kunnen aanschouwen. Ik heb zo veel geleerd vandaag en ik ben zo geïnspireerd. En het was heel erg gezellig.

Sandra gaf ons het materiaal voor de volgende uitdaging: storm. Nu weet je dus dat de naam van onze groep hoort bij het tasje waar het materiaal in zit, met de uitleg van de opdracht. We maken niet persé tassen. De stofjes zijn door Sandra zelf geverfd en ze zijn prachtig. In gedachten heb ik al een idee om uit te werken voor de quilt. Willy heeft ons enorm verwend met lekker eten en drinken. Zo kregen we heerlijke broodjes met van alles er op, onder andere kroketten. Wat een verwennerij. Willy nogmaals bedankt voor je gastvrijheid. En ook de anderen wil ik bedanken voor deze leuke dag!

Today the Dutch Bag Ladies had a show and tell meeting at Willy's. It was the first time I saw all the members, except for Ina who was sick and couldn't come. Ina, I hope you'll feel better soon. It was so nice to meet everyone and to see their fantastic work. I learned so much today and got so inspired. And it was 'gezellig' - sorry, there is no English word for gezellig. Gezellig is the feeling you get or is just what you call it when it feels good to be at a place, with nice people, with wonderful conversations, in a nice setting and ... . I hope you know the feeling of gezellig. Sandra gave us the material for our new challenge: storm ( so now you know that we don't necessarily make bags, but the name points to the bag that contains the challenge and material). I really like the fabrics she gave us and I am already thinking about a way I will work with this theme. Willy spoiled us with lots of food - cakes, bread with kroketten (is there an English word for this) and other tastfull breads. I want to thank all Dutch Bag Ladies for the gezellige day :-).

Workshop bij de Marlotte

Vandaag was de dag dat ik mijn eerste workshop heb verzorgd bij de Marlotte. Helaas trok de open dag niet veel bezoekers. Of dat nu aan het slechte weer lag of iets anders, weet ik niet. Ik vond het in elk geval wel leuk om zo met een aantal dames aan de slag te kunnen. Mijn indruk is, dat zij het ook naar hun zin hebben gehad. Het geven van een workshop is wat mij betreft zeker een herhaling waard. Ik kreeg leuke reacties op het werk wat ik al gemaakt had en op wat ik aan de mensen wilde overbrengen. Op tafel had ik ook een aantal kaarten gelegd die ik in de loop der tijd gekregen heb van mensen, zodat men ook andere stijlen en technieken kon zien, ter inspiratie voor het tasje wat ze zelf konden maken.

Today was the day that I gave my first workshop at the Marlotte. It is a shame that there were not as much people that visited the Open House of the Marlotte. Maybe it was because of the bad weather, maybe something else. I enjoyed working with the ladies who attended my workshop. It's my impression that they had fun too. I wouldn't mind to give a workshop again. I got some nice reactions to my work and the workshop. On the table I also layed cards that I traded with people, so they could see other styles and techniques, to inspire them while making their bag.

Mandala

De mandala voor de Dutch Bag Ladies is min of meer af. Maandag zal ik deze meenemen. Ik zou er nog wel meer aan willen doen, maar door de tasjes voor de workshop en de voorbereidingen hiervoor lukt mij dat voor maandag niet meer. Ik ben tevreden met hoe ver ik gekomen ben. Misschien dat ik hem later nog eens verder uitwerk.

This mandala for the Dutch Bag Ladies is finished, sort of. Monday I will take it along to the show and tell with the other members. I wanted to enhance the mandala a little bit more, but I was busy preparing everything for the workshop. I am happy with the result so far. Maybe I will work on it later on.

Intussen heb ik heel wat lapjes gesneden, tussenvulling gehaald en heb ik allerlei materiaal in kratten gedaan om zondag mee te nemen naar de workshop. Er gaat veel tijd in zitten, maar ik vind het wel leuk om te doen. Om de mensen goed te kunnen laten zien wat de mogelijkheden zijn heb ik in allerlei technieken en in allerlei sferen voorbeelden gemaakt. Deze heb ik vanavond afgemaakt.

In the meanwhile I cut a lot of fabric and put all the material I need in boxes to take along for the workshop on Sunday. It takes a lot of time, but I like doing it. To show people the possibilities, I made more examples with all kinds of techniques. Tonight I made this one.
