Een vraagje: is het nieuwe Quilting Arts magazine al in Nederland bezorgd? Ik heb namelijk de nieuwste editie al wel op internet en diverse blogs gezien, maar heb deze zelf nog niet ontvangen.

Question: has the new Quilting Arts Magazine been deliverd in the Netherlands? I did not receive it yet.

Van alles en nog wat

ATC - stad/city

Dit is een hele drukke maand: veel verjaardagen en bijzondere dagen op de scholen van de kinderen, het textielfestival in Noord Groningen en noem het maar op. Ook de afgelopen weken waren erg druk voor mij, met name op het werk. De energie is daardoor op.

It is a very busy month: a lot of birthdays, special days at the schools of our boys, the Textile festival in the North of the Netherlands and so on. The last weeks were also very busy, especially at work. My energylevel is low now.

Pas geleden hebben we gehoord dat drie van de deelnemers van Texplosions uit de groep stappen, namelijk Emmy, Sandra en Willy. Voor de groep kwam dit nieuws onverwacht. Tijdens de afgelopen bijeenkomst hebben we er met elkaar over gesproken en dit maakte een hoop helder. Ik begrijp de redenen goed en wens Emmy, Sandra en Willy veel goeds en hoop dat we contact blijven houden. Ik zal hen missen in onze groep die nu ineens een heel stuk kleiner geworden is.

Recently we heard that three members of our Textile Art Group Texplosions are leaving the group: Emmy, Sandra and Willy. This news was unexpected. During the last meeting we talked about it and this has made clear what the reasons are. I understand why they are going, although it makes me a bit sad. I hope we will keep in contact. I will miss them in our group, that has become a small group all of a sudden.

Mijn stad quilt is in mijn ogen zo mooi geworden, dat ik deze graag een keer wil insturen voor een wedstrijd. Ik ga er daarom ook geen foto van publiceren. Volgers van dit blog kunnen de quilt zien als ze nieuwsgierig zijn naar wat ik er uiteindelijk van heb gemaakt. Wil je dat, stuur mij dan even een berichtje.

My city quilt has become quite pretty (in my eyes) and I would love to send it in some day for a competition. That is why I decided not to publish a photo of it. If you follow this blog I will show it to you personaly. In that case: please send me an e-mail.

En hier nog twee foto's van dieren uit onze tuin. Hierboven een bijzondere vlinder die moeite doet om niet op te vallen. En hieronder zien jullie een foto van een voedersessie van de jonge mussen in onze tuin. Inmiddels zijn de mussen uitgevlogen en zijn de ouders druk bezig met het maken van nieuwe mussen :-).

And here are two photo's of the animals in our garden. Above you can see a special butterfly that tries to hide in the picture. And below you can see a photo of birds feeding their young ones. A few days ago the birds left the nest. Their parents are very busy making new ones :-).

Testing, testing

Vanavond ben ik gaan oefenen met het quilten van de op elkaar geplakte lagen stof. Lynn vertelde mij dat zij geen problemen ondervond met kleine stukjes stof en Suus zei hetzelfde. Daarom ben ik het maar eens gaan proberen met kleine stukjes stof. En het ging prima. Bedankt voor de adviezen.

Tonight I have been practising: quilting fused fabric. Lynn told me that she had no problems quilting little pieces of fused fabrics and Suus also had no problems with it. So, I tried it on some small pieces of fabric. It turned out fine. Thank you both for your advise.

Leuke post

Gisteren ontving ik twee enveloppen. Eentje kreeg ik van iemand met wie ik op een forum zit. Zo lief! Allemaal knoopjes en ook nog wat lapjes stof.

Yesterday I got two envelopes in the mail. One was send to me by someone I met on a forum. So sweet. Nice buttons and also some fabric.

En deze mooie kaarten kreeg ik van Solange. Vinden jullie ze ook zo mooi? Solange, die van mij moeten nog op de post, maar ze komen er binnenkort aan hoor.

And these beautiful cards were send to me by Solange. Do you like them as much as I do? Solange, I still have to put something in the mail for you, but I will shortly.

ATC from Lynn

Today I got this beautiful ATC in the mail. It is made by Lynn. Lynn is one of the most active bloggers and fiber artist in the world, I guess :-). Thank you so much Lynn. It also fits in my ATC cardbook. I also love the card that was included.

ATC's van batikstof

Ik heb een aantal ATC's gemaakt van één van de stoffen die ik laatst bij Sandra heb geverfd. Eerst hebben we met was gespeeld (batik) en daarna hebben we de stof geverfd. Het geeft hele mooie resultaten.

I made some ATC's of one of the fabric's I dyed at Sandra's a while ago. First we played with wax (batik) and then we dyed the fabric. It gives great results.

Prachtige kaart van Sandra

Wat heb ik toch een geluk. Ik heb een prachtige kaart gekregen van Sandra. Het duurde even voordat ik deze kon laten zien, want ik kon een aantal dagen niet inloggen door computerproblemen hier, maar inmiddels heb ik een andere manier gevonden om dit toe te voegen. Mooie kaart he?!

I am so lucky. This card was send to me by Sandra. It took a while for me to show it, because of computer trouble. But now I found a way to upload the picture. Nice card, isn't it?!

Terug van vakantie - Back from vacation

Is er een beter welkom denkbaar na de vakantie dan dit hierboven te vinden in de brievenbus? Een Quiling Arts magazine, het boek Stitching the textured surface (gesigneerd door Lynda en Carol) en een mooie kaart uit Denemarken van Inge, Inge bedankt!. En, het boekje met het cursusprogramma bij de Stofmeid in Borger. Ik heb me meteen opgegeven voor een cursus Surface Design. Leuk!

Is there a better welcome than finding these on the mailbox when arriving home from our vacation? Kaart, ATC en borduurwerk

Het borduurwerkje vordert gestaag. Het is een hele klus dit handwerk, maar ik kan het mooi doen als ik met de kinderen tv zit te kijken of als we buiten in zon zitten.

My embroidery work is growing slowly. It is a lot of work this hand work, but I can work on it while watching tv with the kids or sitting outside in the sun.

Van Hannie kreeg ik deze mooie ATC en postkaart. Dank je wel Hannie. Ik zal je iets terugsturen, zodra ik weer kaarten heb.

Werken met de hand - working by hand

Vorige week kregen wij nieuwe kozijnen aan de achterkant van ons huis. Daardoor stond alles op een andere plaats en was er te veel stof om te kunnen werken met de naaimachine. Toen heb ik een aantal lapjes en wat draad gepakt en ben ik iets gaan maken met de hand. Het was erg leuk om te doen. Ik denk dat ik dit werkje mee ga nemen als ik volgende keer op vakantie ga. Het is zo'n mooi groeiwerkje, wat ontstaat terwijl je er mee aan het werk bent.

Last week we got new windows in our house. And all things inside got a new temporary place and there was a lot of dust. That is why couldn't work with my sewingmachine on my quilts. I decided to do some work by hand. It was fun. I think I will take this piece along when I go on a holiday. It can grow into something.


Met de post kwamen een aantal mooi ATC's mijn kant op. Ik kreeg niet alleen de ATC's, maar er zaten ook nog extra kaarten en leuke dingetjes bij. Zelf stuur ik mijn ATC's vaak kaal op. Hier kan ik dus nog iets van leren. In elk geval is het een leuke verrassing om ATC's te krijgen met de post. De bovenstaande zijn van: Margret R (Digital Gran- de groene), Jean Toms (peer), Maria Clara Lloveras (hartjes) en Ati Norway (de blauwe met sterren). Allemaal bedankt voor het ruilen!

The postman brought some beautiful ATC's. I didn't only get the ATC's, but the ladies also send me extra postcards and nice things. I can learn from that. It is so nice to get these little treasures in the mail. Met kleine stapjes vooruit - Little steps forwards

The newest theme of the Dutch Bag Ladies is Time. Emmy handed us two fabrics, with a cold and a warm green. And now it is up to the group members to make something beautiful out of it. I like the fabrics. And now I am trying to get somewhere with it. I made several drawings, but nothing good has come up yet. I also made a big list with 'time'-words. Nothing has come out of that either. So I decided to start and see what happens. I hope time will tell :-)

As you can see, I am just experimenting.

And in the meanwhile I made an ATC. I dyed some fabric and stamped on it, with a handmade stamp (out of Linoleum). Ain't it funny? (Also see: http://corryna.blogspot.com/2008/03/stempels-gemaakt.html)

And I am still working on my Storm quilt. I started quilting it. I am a bit scared to mess it up with the quilting. But the next meeting, I want to show it to the group members, so I have to continue. And that is a good thing, because otherwise it would be an UFO, just because I am afraid of what will happen in this stage of the work. So I am taking little steps.

Prachtige kaarten - Lovely cards

This lovely star was send to me by MaryAnn Richardson, who was in the same Exquisite Corps Textiles group as I was. It is hanging in our Christmas tree now.

This lovely card was made by Sandra. Sandra, what kind of gold paint did you use? It is so shiny. I like it a lot.

Lynn's eerste stoffen postkaart - Lynn's first fabric postcard

Vandaag kleurde Lynn mijn dag met haar mooie, felgekleurde postkaart. Het is haar eerste postkaart van stof ooit. Lynn, bedankt dat je hem mij stuurde. Ik vind de kleuren erg mooi en ik ben zeker dat je het komende jaar nog meer postkaarten zult maken.

Today Lynn brightend up my day with this lovely, bright coloured fabric postcard. Her first fabric postcard ever made. Lynn, thank you so much for sending this card to me. I really like the colours and I am sure that you will make more cards this coming year. I had a lot of fun reading the backside. You did fine!

Postkaarten gemaakt en verzonden

Dit is één van de postkaarten die ik pasgeleden heb gemaakt om te ruilen. Ik heb meerdere gemaakt, maar ik kan de foto's hiervan niet terugvinden. Het begon toen ik een kaart wilde maken voor een vriendin van mij in Spring, Texas die ging trouwen. De kaart moest hierbij passen. En ik had zo veel plezier om deze te maken, dat ik besloot er nog een aantal te maken om te ruilen. Ik heb één naar Beate, Annika en Veronique gestuurd.

This is one of the postcards I made for a swap recently. I made others, but I can't find the photo's. I started making these, because a friend of mine in Spring, Texas was going to be married. And it had to fit that occasion. And I had so much fun making it, that I decided to make some more for trade. I send one to Beate, Annika and Veronique.

Postkaart en ATC gekregen

Annica uit Zweden stuurde mij deze prachtige postkaart. Ze deed er een klein kaartje bij in dezelfde kleuren. Het is prachtig. Bedankt Annica! Ik vind de kleuren en steken erg mooi.

Deze prachtige ATC kreeg ik van Veronique uit Frankrijk met een mooi verhaal erbij. Ze schreef dat nadat we besloten kaarten te ruilen ze op de radio hoorde dat in het dialect rondom Marseille één woord van Nederlandse oorsprong bestaat: stokvis. En daarom besloot ze dat dat het thema van de ATC zou worden. Het is een prachtige kaart geworden, en met het verhaal erbij is het ook nog heel speciaal geworden. En als ik dan denk aan al die Franse woorden die we in het Nederlands gebruiken. Ik zal niet beginnen met tellen... Veronique, bedankt voor de ruil.

This wonderful ATC was send to me by Veronique from France with a wonderful story. She wrote that when we decided to trade cards she heard on the radio that there is only one word in the local language of Marseilles that has it's origin in the Netherlands. The word is stockfish. And so she decided to make an ATC of stock fish. The card is wonderful, and with the story it has become special as well. And as I think of all the French words we incorporated in Dutch... I will not start counting :-). Veronique, thank you for trading!
