Gisteren vierde een vriendin haar verjaardag. Ik heb deze tas voor haar gemaakt.

Dit is mijn nieuwe tas. Gemaakt van gerecycled materiaal en wat nieuwe stoffen.

Kerstpakket

Dit jaar deed ik voor het eerst mee met een Kerstpakketten ruilactie op een internetforum waar ik vaak kom. Degene met wie ik zou ruilen kende ik niet. Ik wist alleen dat ze een dochter heeft van vier. Daarom besloot ik een tast te maken en die te vullen met allerlei ´tas dingen´. Omdat ik de afgelopen weken ziek was, moesten we de ruildatum verschuiven. Vandaag hebben we elkaar ontmoet en de pakketten uitgewisseld, dus nu kan ik het ook aan jullie laten zien met de foto hierboven.

I attended a Christmas presents swap that was organized at an internet forum I often visit. I did not know the recipient, but I knew she has a daughter. So I decided to make a bag and fill it with ´bag things´. Because I had been ill for the last couple of weeks, we had to postpone the date of the exchange. Today we met and you can see what she got in the picture above.

Ik was zo blij dat ze de tas mooi vond. Ik vind zulke dingen altijd heel spannend, omdat ik weet dat iemand anders smaak heel anders kan zijn dan die van mij.

I was so glad that she liked the bag. I always find it very exciting, because I know that someone´s tast may be a whole different from mine.

Ze heeft overigens voor mij ook een geweldig pakket samengesteld. Het was groot en veel met onder andere chocolaatjes en snoep, zelfgemaakte pruimenjam, wat huishoudelijke items, zoals bewaarblikken en stof, honderden knoopjes, linten en nieuwe scharen. Ik was echt blij met de leuke cadeautjes. We hadden een gezellige middag.

The lady made an great Christmas surprise for me too. She put in lots of presents, like nice chocolats and sweets, home made jam, some nice household items like storage boxes and fabric, hundreds of buttons, trims and new siccors! I was trilled to receive such nice presents. We had a lovely afternoon!

Dit kleine tasje heb ik gemaakt voor een oom en tante van mijn man. Ze zijn 60 jaar getrouwd. In het tasje stoppen we wat geld voor een goed doel. Dat is wat zij gevraagd hebben.

This is a little bag that I made for an uncle and aunt of my husband. They are married for 60 years. In the bag we will include some money for a good cause. That is what they want.

Op dit moment werk ik aan een serie tassen. Dit zou de klep van een nieuwe tas kunnen worden. Ik heb een aantal Paapje stoffen gebruikt die ik afgelopen weekend heb gekocht. Het is zijde en borettizijde

At the moment I am working on bags. This may be the flap of a new bag... I used some of the Paapje fabrics that I bought last weekend. It is silk and 'Boretti' silk.

Tassie

Next month I will be giving a course for beginners, where they can learn how to make a bag. At this moment I am busy making examples. The 5th of September there will be a sort of course market, where all the people who will give courses will present them selfs. I hope a lot of people will subscribe to my course. If not, I will not be giving this course... It is the first time I will do this and I am very excited about it.

Volgende maand geef ik een cursus Maak je eigen tas voor beginners. Op dit moment ben ik druk bezig met het maken van voorbeelden. 5 September sta ik op de cursusmarkt, waar mensen zich voor cursussen kunnen inschrijven. Ik hoop dat dat gebeurt, zodat de cursus door kan gaan. Het is de eerste keer dat ik deze cursus geef en ik vind het heel spannend allemaal.

Intussen heb ik heel wat lapjes gesneden, tussenvulling gehaald en heb ik allerlei materiaal in kratten gedaan om zondag mee te nemen naar de workshop. Er gaat veel tijd in zitten, maar ik vind het wel leuk om te doen. Om de mensen goed te kunnen laten zien wat de mogelijkheden zijn heb ik in allerlei technieken en in allerlei sferen voorbeelden gemaakt. Deze heb ik vanavond afgemaakt.

In the meanwhile I cut a lot of fabric and put all the material I need in boxes to take along for the workshop on Sunday. It takes a lot of time, but I like doing it. To show people the possibilities, I made more examples with all kinds of techniques. Tonight I made this one.

Voor de workshop van De Marlotte heb ik nu ook dit tasje gemaakt als voorbeeld. Ik hoop dat de mensen het leuk zullen vinden om zoiets te maken en bij mijn tafel aanschuiven. Spannend, want het is de eerste keer dat ik een workshop geef. In mijn werk heb ik wel eens een cursus gegeven of voorlichting gegeven aan groepen, maar dit is toch weer heel iets anders.

I made this little bag for the workshop of De Marlotte. I hope people will like making it and attent my workshop. It is very exciting for me, because this is my first workshop. In my work I have been organising courses and I have been giving information to groups, but this is something different.

Feesttasje voor open dag van De Marlotte

Marjo van De Marlotte heeft mij gevraagd 5 oktober een workshop te verzorgen op de open dag. Ik ben druk bezig met de voorbereidingen. Degenen die dat willen kunnen voor 5 euro, inclusief materialen, een feestelijk tasje maken. Een tasje zoals hierboven zou kunnen, maar ik heb ook nog een ander model op het oog. Beide ben ik nu aan het maken en intussen bedenk ik welke materialen ik moet meenemen. Het is een workshop van een uur, dus de uitvoering zal dan wel sober zijn, maar ik neem voorbeelden mee, zodat men ook kan zien hoe het ook kan. En als het goed is, zal de creativiteit dan wel gaan stromen en kunnen mensen er thuis verder mee aan de slag, een grotere versie maken of iets dergelijks. De komende avonden moet ik hard aan de slag om alles uit te werken en te bekijken hoe ver je kunt komen in een uur en met welke materialen dat het beste gaat. Tips zijn welkom :-). Marjo (De Marlotte) asked to organize a workshop at her shop on the 5th of October. I am busy preparing it. The ones who want to can attent the workshop and make a little bag for the holidays. A bag like above could work, but I also have another model that I want to try out. I also have to think about the materials I could use. The workshop will only last for an hour, so the bag wil be simple, but I will bring along some models. So people can see what they can do and get inspired. They can finish it at home if they want or make a langer version. The next weeks I have to try out what will work best for this workshop. If anyone has good idea's for a bag that can be produced in one hour and has some ideas for the materials I can use... Please let me know.

Voor degenen die mij vroegen hoe de bloemen water krijgen: ze krijgen geen water. Ik heb ze er voor de foto in gedaan. Maar je zou van plastic een voering kunnen vouwen en daar wat water in kunnen doen. Je kunt het puntje ook met wol of fiberfill vullen, er dan een klein vaasje in doen en het dan verder aanvullen met wol of fiberfill.

For the ones who asked about the flowers: I just put them in there. No water... It was just for the photo. But if you want you can make a little plastic bag in there with a little water (thick plastic!). Or fill it up with wool or fiberfill, than put a little vase in and fill the space up with wool. This should do the job too.

Doordat we nu twee nintendo's in huis hebben hadden we behoefte aan een nieuw tasje. Dit is het tasje wat ik gemaakt heb.

Because we now have two nintendo's in our home, we needed an other bag for it. This is the bag I made.

Tas voor Wilwerwiltz - Luxemburg

Vandaag heb ik de tas die ik had ingezonden voor de tassenwedstrijd van het 3e Internationale quiltfestival op 1-2-3 en 4 mei 2008 in Wilwerwiltz- Luxemburg- opgehaald bij Iet van der Vrande in Someren. Helaas heb ik niets gewonnen, maar het was wel erg leuk om mee te doen. Ik vond het best spannend, omdat ik nog niet eerder aan een wedstrijd als deze had meegedaan. Nu mogen jullie de tas ook bewonderen. De tas is gemaakt van zelf geverfde stoffen. De buitenkant is veloursstof, binnenin zit katoen. En ook de blokjes aan de voorkant zijn katoen. De kop heb ik er opgemaakt met wol en deze heb ik doorgestikt/gequilt. Een groot deel heb ik met de hand vastgenaaid, zoals het zakje aan de binnenzijde en de donkerblauwe rand.

Today I went to Iet van der Vrande to fetch the bag I made for the bag competition of the 3th International Quiltfestival on the 1st, 2nd, 3th and 4th of May in Wilwerwiltz- Luxemburg. I didn't win any price, but it was nice to attent the competition. Especially, because I had never done this before. And now you may see the bag as well. I made is out of hand dyed fabrics - velours and cotton. I machine quilted the head of wool and sewed a lot by hand.

Tasje gemaakt

Bedankt voor alle leuke commentaren op mijn vorige bericht. Het is zo leuk om te lezen dat jullie het telefoontasje ook leuk vinden. Mijn collega was er ook blij mee. Ze zei dat ze het voor altijd zal gebruiken.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my previous post. It is so nice to read that you like the telephone case as well. My colleague was very content with it. She said she would use it for ever :-).

En nu deze tas... I heb hem gemaakt, maar ik weet niet zeker of ik de kraaltjes toe had moeten voegen. Het ziet er uit of ze er niet bij horen. Wat denk jij er van? And als ik zo doordenk, kan het ook wel zijn dat het ontwerp niet voldoende in balans is. Misschien is dat eigenlijk het probleem. Nou ja, het is een soort van experiment en van experimenten moet je leren. De volgende zal mooier zijn.

And now this bag...I made it, but I am not sure if I should have added the beads. They look as if they should not be there. What do you think? And as I think of it, it might be that the design is not in balans at all. Maybe that is the problem... Well it was a sort of experiment and experiments are there to learn from. The next one will be better.

Telefoontasje

Voor een collega die mij voorzag van een zak vol met mooie draadjes en wol heb ik dit telefoontasje gemaakt. Het oranje draad kreeg ik ook van haar. Zo enorm lief van haar dat ze om me dacht, maar het is überhaupt een lieve vrouw :-). De groene stof heb ik gekregen van een vriendin: Vanessa (en haar moeder). Een aantal berichten terug heb ik hier over geschreven. Wat een geluk!

A colleque of mine gave me a lot of wool and threats in a bag. I made this telephone case for her. The orange threat was in the bag as well. It is so sweet she gave me this, but overall it is a very sweet woman :-). The green fabric I used was given to me by a friend: Vanessa (and her mother). A few postings before I wrote about this. I am so lucky!

Tussendoortje: etui

Tussendoor heb ik deze etui gemaakt: gevilt, vrij machine quilten en versierd met kraaltjes. Ook deze is weer gemaakt van een oude legersok.

In between I made this pencil case: felted, free machine quilting and embellished with beads. This one is also made of an old army sock.

Roze-fuchsia-paarse etui

De afgelopen dagen heb ik aan deze etui gewerkt. Elke keer een uurtje, dus het leek niet op te schieten. Maar, nu is ie af. Het zijn echt mijn kleuren.

The last few days I have been working on this pencil case. Each day for about an hour, so it seamed that it took a very long time to finish it. But.... it is finished! These are really my kind of colours.
